Forex: USD boosted as Greece worries dominate

FITITOL--> FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The U.S. dollar is broadly bid against its major trading counterparts in early trading this Wednesday, boosted by risk-off flows and a slide in Asian markets as failed coalition talks in Greece stoked fresh concerns about the fragility of Europe’s monetary union.

Overnight, the EUR/USD pair slid below the 1.30 mark and, so far in Asia, has traded down to as low as 1.2966 vs. 1.3003 at the end of trading in North America. GBP/USD is under pressure, now quoted at session lows around 1.6129 from 1.6155. The Australian and Kiwi dollars are both taking hits against the greenback, with AUD/USD now targeting fresh 5-month lows, last at 1.0065 vs. 1.0119 at the open, while NZD/USD, too, is recording new multi-month lows at the time of writing, last at 0.7850 after a recent touch of 0.7842. USD/JPY remains unchanged around 79.85.
